Scarlet Threads Compassionate Boutique

>> Monday, August 9, 2010

While on Twitter, I recently discovered Scarlet Threads.
Scarlet Threads Fair Trade Boutique
Scarlet Threads Compassionate Boutique, specializes in unique, beautiful, hand-crafted products designed and produced by talented seamstresses in rural Asia. The perfect gift for bridal showers, holidays, or any special occasion, all Scarlet Threads products are fairly traded, a growing global economic movement that uses trading partnerships to alleviate poverty. In Fair Trade, artisans are paid fair wages and provided safe working environments.

"Like any piece of cloth, many threads came together to form Scarlet Threads," says the founder. She describes how they moved to China in 2007 to work with special needs' orphans. They came to learn that many children become orphans due to poverty. Scarlet Threads was created as a way to transform their community in China, help alieviate poverty and improve the lives of so many with Fair Trade. Hats off to Scarlet Threads for being the change they want to see and making a difference!

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle,
but it will never break."
- A Chinese Proverb

This proverb inspired the name choice- Scarlet Threads represents "the ways we are all connected. No matter what country we call home, as women we care about the same things -- our children and our families. When you purchase a Scarlet Threads product, you become intricately connected to a woman half a world away. You give her the chance to provide for her family in a safe and dignified way, and you make our vision a reality."

Now let me tell you the Scarlet Threads Shop has some really cute really reasonable items making it easy to do good!
