Moms Wear Your Tees Blog: fabric sticker patches

I recently found out about this new company that has a funny name and takes a fun spin on things. It is called "Grab A Scab" and it makes fun fabric sticker patches. Right away I thought of my grandmother and how many times she patched up my jeans when I was little and she sewed patches on my jean jacket for me when that was cool and what I wanted.

There is a big difference though about these Scabs fabric patches- they are stickers! Scabs are easy to use fabric patches that require NO ironing or sewing. Scabs are durable and machine washable. The other big difference is that they have an big assortment of Scabs to choose from including the Scabee monster that I know my grandmother would not approve of but that little boys would love!

The Grab a Scab company was started by a mother:
"My inspiration for creating Scabs came from my two young boys who continually rip open the knees of their pants. One day last fall, I purchased both boys new jeans for starting back to school. After one day of wear, and obviously a great time at recess, they both came home from school with gaping holes in the knees of their new pants. All I could think about was the money that I had ‘wasted’ on the boy’s pants. That day, I decided that I would create a way to make their pants last. I knew that I needed to make something fun that they would want to wear. That is how the idea for Scabs was born...Now when my children rip their clothes, we just ‘Grab A Scab.’ I hope you find Scabs to be a fantastic solution for you and a fun time for your children."

Scabs can go on anything- a backpack, jeans, or even a bicycle. Scabs have the obvious use of patching up holes in fabric put they are also suggested for use in such creative ways as cutting them down to size for a babies pants and adding them over the knees to give extra protection as baby crawls. I used ours to personalize my children's backpacks. My daughter has a very popular backpack and the Scab she applied is great at setting it apart from the other children without having to write her name on it. My son has a unique backpack but it is plain so he enjoyed sprucing it up with his scab. I thought about cutting it up and letting stick all the pieces on but he wanted his to look the same as his sister's so we kept it whole.

Original Scab fabric sticker patches come in a size designed to mend a hole that runs from seam to seam in a pair of pants. On average, Scabs measure 5 inches by 4 inches. This size fits on most pants, size 2 and larger. If the Scabs are too large or if you want to use them in a different area, all the Scabs can be cut however you wish. They will not fray. The ‘Button’ Scab Collection, and ‘Safety’ Scab Collections are all approximately 2 ½ inches high and 2 ½ wide or 2 ½ inches in diameter.
