Teatulia 100% Organic Tea Review and Giveaway

>> Friday, December 10, 2010

I love tea. I suppose it is the English blood in me! I recently discovered Teatulia- 100% organic, ultra premium, hand-picked, single estate tea. Sounds good right? I thought so too! They offer a line of nine different varieties of organic teas and herbal infusions including Teatulia Black, Teatulia Green, Teatulia White, Earl of Bengal, Bengal Breakfast, Neem Nectar, Tulsi Infusion, Lemongrass Herbal Infusion, and Ginger Herbal Infusion. No pesticides, machinery or unnatural irrigation are used in the cultivation of Teatulia tea. I also love Teatulia's sustainable packaging which consists of compostable tubes, labels made from post-consumer paper, water-based inks and dyes, and biodegradable silken pyramid tea bags.

While ongoing research is being conducted on the health benefits of tea, studies
suggest a relationship between regular tea consumption and:
Reduced risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke
Reduced risk of certain cancers
The prevention of blood clots
Lowered cholesterol
Improved oral health
Improved bone health and reduced risk of osteoporosis
Strengthened immune system
Decreased risk of developing kidney stones

I love all tea but since I am pregnant, I am trying to stick to herbal infusions or white and green tea which are naturally super low in caffeine. I was able to try Teatulia's Caffeine-Free Ginger Herbal Infusion which was a loose leaf mix of small, delicate ginger bits with broken Vasaka leaf.
"Bold, broad spiciness. Initial sips are a lovely intense pronounced flavor, spicy and peppery with sweet overtones. Mellows after three minutes in the cup with just the right amount of heat. Nice any time, but especially after a meal."
I found it to be very nice and well balanced without too much spice or pungency but with plenty of flavor.

I also tried Teatulia 100% Organic White Tea in the pyramid tea bags with white tea half-inch needles.
"Delicately rich with a hint of peach. Excellent choice for starting off a hot summer day or relaxing in the early evening. Also a perfect choice for those new to tea-- the sweet, subtle flavor is a lovely introduction to the world of tea."
I found the white tea to be extremely rich in flavor compared to many white teas I have tried. It was really lovely and I actually used each tea bag for three brews. They were just so full of flavor I couldn't waste any!

Teatulia's Organic Green Tea is some of the best I have had.
"Medium body with a grassy, fresh, slightly vegetal flavor. Slightly astringent finish with a refreshing cooling quality. Perfect any time of day for green tea lovers."
I loved the flavor of this green tea. It was very full bodied and again so full of flavor that I got three brewings out of a single bag. I think the Teatulia tea is so full of flavor because it is so fresh. There is no middle man, no bulk buying tea warehouses so it comes directly to the customer in a very fresh state. The result is really lovely, full flavor on all the teas I tried.

White Persian Melon Golden Moon Tea Review and Giveaway

>> Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Today I doing a review and giveaway for Golden Moon Tea. I discovered Golden Moon Tea a few months ago when I decided to only purchase loose leaf tea. I made this decision to reduce waste after reading that "one million tons of excess waste could be eliminated each year by not having the following three items associated with an average tea bag: the paper wrapping around the individual bag, the string attached to the bag, and the little paper tab attached to the string." (source, http://www.culinate.com/articles/sift/Tea+baggage). So this review and giveaway are perfect for the Earth Day Blogging Event that I am a part of!

Golden Moon Tea focuses on "providing a limited number of highest quality unique specialty teas...All Golden Moon Teas are hand-plucked and meticulously crafted to enhance leaf character, aroma, color, clarity, body, complexity, and above all, flavor." Your enjoyment is guaranteed or your money back!

I find that white tea is probably the least used tea by people I know. Many have never even heard of it. White tea is VERY low in caffeine and according to about.com, "Leaving tea leaves so close to their natural state means that white tea contains more polyphenols, the powerful anti-oxidant that fights and kills cancer-causing cells, than any other type of tea." Uncured, unfermented and plucked before fully open, white tea became the only tea served inside the palace of China's emperor, and its gentle purity inspired the Japanese tea ceremony. Rarer, more subtle, and higher in beneficial antioxidants, white teas are still the tea art's highest form.

I tried White Persian Melon which is a white loose leaf tea enlivened with the nectar of succulent melon. This luxurious delicacy is light, subtle and yummy. No grassy flavor and not overwhelming with melon flavor. It was great both hot and iced- lightly fruity. I especially enjoyed it with a bit of honey.

Buy some today or win it!
