Luxurious Bamboo Towel Set Review and Giveaway from Heavenly Duvets and Linens

I have been reading a lot lately about how fabulous bamboo is as a fabric. It is both super luxuriously soft and eco-friendly. Bamboo fabric is naturally hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial and odor resistant which makes it ideal for a hygienic environment and especially ideal for towels because you know how they can get to smelling funky if they don't dry out all the way. Bamboo absorbs up to 60% more water than cotton also making it an excellent choice for towels and bathrobes. Bamboo is eco-friendly because it absorbs more carbon dioxide than an equivalent stand of trees and grows back more quickly!

With all the benefits of bamboo in mind, I sought out a store that carries a nice bamboo towel set. I found Heavenly Duvets and Linens, a store that specializes in high quality bed and bath linens and carries Egyptian cotton, organic cotton, and bamboo bed and bath linens.

I really wanted to try a whole bamboo towel set as it is always more economical to buy the set than by individual pieces. Not only did Heavenly Duvets and Linens have a bamboo towel set option, they carry it in 14 colors! I was really excited about this because my bathroom is a very monotone bland color scheme and I wanted to pick a bright color to liven things up a little!

The bamboo towel set includes one bamboo face cloth- 13 x 13, one bamboo hand towel- 15 x 30, and one bamboo bath towel- 30 x 56. These bamboo towels are made from 100% Rayon from bamboo yarn to give you the softness of silk combined with absorbency that surpasses cotton. When I unpacked the bamboo towel set, I was impressed by the beautiful silky sheen. They are truly the softest towels I have ever used. In fact, it takes some getting used to! They are very absorbent and I love knowing that they are naturally a anti-microbial and odor resistant. This bamboo towel set is really very luxurious and makes me feel very pampered. Needless to say, I love my new bamboo towel set!

Tips on How to Go Green While Scrapbooking

Despite the fact that scrapbooking involves using tons paper, the idea of scrapbooking and going green at the same time can actually be done. One way of keeping the waste to a minimum is by recycling the products you can no longer use instead of throwing everything away.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Reuse Paper
A lot of the paper products used for scrapbooking are sold in specialty packaging that costs a lot of money. A great way to save money and be more eco friendly when scrapbooking, is by using recycled paper instead. You can also make this popular hobby green by recycling and reusing any products you don’t finish. This includes scraps of paper which can be repurposed as page borders, embellishments, etc.

Reuse household "junk"
Reusing household “junk” is another way to save money and still be green because packaging, clothing tags, and other odds and ends from around the house can find new life as scrapbooking material. Don’t buy fake (and expensive) scrapbooking buttons when you can reuse real buttons from an old shirt. Cut off the buttons and set them aside, then cut up the shirt for rags. You can use the rags for cleaning your stamps or simply glue it to some cardboard and use for a paper-piecing project. Interesting art from junk mail and magazines can also be given a second life in scrapbooks.


Share Supplies
Offer to share supplies with a few other scrapbookers. This will provide you with access to more cool stuff that you each may need and save money!

Organize your scrapbook supplies
If you really want to have an eco-friendly scrapbooking experience, organization will be the key. As long as you keep all of your scraps and other supplies well-arranged, you won’t end up buying lots of stuff that you already have. This way, you can go green, have fun, and save money at the same time!

Lylas Fun Kids Applique- Easy Iron on Appliques

Lylas.com.au has a huge selection of easy to use, handmade cloth appliques. They are so simple to use! You just peel off the paper backing, lay in place, cover with a cloth, and iron on for 20 seconds. Then you are done! You can decorate it even further with fabric paint around the edges for extra pop.

It is a great way to take a plain t-shirt and make it exciting. I added a Thomas the Tank Engine Applique to my son's plain green t-shirt and now he really loves it. The Thomas applique was only $1.25 so it is quite a reasonable way to add some fun to the wardrobe. I also added a Percy and James Tank to a plain bag so that now he will know it is his to carry his goodies in. I also made one of those bags for my daughter with the Dora and Boots Applique. She loves it and calls it her snack bag.
