Womentorz.com exists to create a mutually supportive and informative online community dedicated to helping creative women bring their ideas to market. Womentorz provides a user friendly, membership-based e-commerce website which allows women inventors to sell their products directly to consumers thereby eliminating the cost and dependency on retail distribution. The Womentorz website and blog proactively promote its members and evaluate every product sold on the website to limit competition and ensure success.

Womentorz.com provides a marketplace for consumers to see the latest inventions made by women, and most likely for women, that can’t be found in stores. It’s a great place to find unique gifts and interesting gadgets that solve problems in daily life. Shoppers will also enjoy knowing that they are supporting a network of women and sustaining their independence.

My favorite product I spotted was this super cute eco-friendly- Spooneez, "roll up the mess with the portable, wipeable, washable utensil carrier." No more yucky spoons stuck to the bottom of your diaper bag or purse. This alternative to a ziploc is BPA, PVC, & phthalates free.

I also LOVE the "Flickets", super cute eye glasses accessories. I think these would have made me feel much better about my glasses in grade school!

Womentorz.com was built to provide a shopping destination where women and mothers can find solutions to their everyday problems. Each inventor has their own storefront to sell their inventions directly to the consumer and eliminating the need for retail distribution. Finally, there's a place where you can find inventions for women by women in one, easy to navigate website! Check it out Womentorz.com today!

Cool Kids Dance DVD by Born to Play Productions

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

I have been considering putting my daughter in a ballet class but I haven't been able to shell out the money yet. Plus I didn't know if she would really like it and how would I entertain Leo while she was dancing? Then I discovered,"The Music Box," a dance along fairy tale by Born to Play Productions. I know my kids like to dance with me to music, so I thought they might like it. I was pleasantly surprised that the dance along is actually structured and instructive all at the same time of being within a story that interests them and breaks the dancing up into pieces they learn from. It actually has a great introduction to ballet and several different types of dance!

"The Music Box" is targeted at kids ages 4 to 7 but my son is not 3 yet and he loves it. My daughter is almost 5 and she loves it too. The first time they saw it, they both just watched intently. The second time they were ready to get up and try out the moves. Sierra was trying to get the steps just right, while my son was just fearlessly giving it a go! My kids really enjoy this DVD and I like that it gives them and interactive introduction to dance. No wonder "The Music Box" is a Telly award winner DVD with Seal of Approval from the Parent's Television Council!

Not only is "The Music Box" an interactive dance DVD, but it also has a fairy tale twist where kids are interactively introduced to several ways of dance. The story involves a tap dancing Clown (tap), a cuddly bear (rhythmic dance), a dancing Gold Bird (port de bras), a jazzy Cat (jazz), an acrobatic Pirate (Hip Hop), a beautiful Ballerina (Ballet), and an exotic Asian Princess (Asian dance.) It is also full of kids who are learning the dance moves as part of the way to rescue the prince in the story. I definitely recommend this DVD as my children really enjoyed it and I found it educational and interactive. You can check it out now at Born to Play.

A copy of "The Music Box" was provided for my children in exchange for our honest opinions. I did not receive any money compensation for this review.

>> Thursday, January 28, 2010

Both my babies loved to be carried. Especially my daughter, always a happy girl until I tried to put her down. The Sleepy Wrap was designed by a mama who wanted to find just the right carrier for her son that distributed his weight across her shoulders and back and that was made of just the right stretchy but secure fabric. The Sleepy Wrap baby carrier securely holds your little one close to you. It is specially designed for your baby's first year of life, yet you may comfortably carry your baby for as long as you both desire. What do you do with a curly haired boy? I got organic help from Curls!

>> Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I have straight brown hair and my son has curly blond hair! People are always asking me where he came from! I just love his curls and so does his father but since I don't have curls myself I really didn't know how to take care of it. His hair was getting to the point where I decided to have it cut short because the curls were so matted in the back when he woke up every morning. But his father said not to cut it so I decided to seek professional help.

I found CURLS in my online search for help. Curls products have rave reviews but what's more, they use natural ingredients that I love. Curls use organic oils and quality ingredients, such as aloe leaf juice, panthenol, mango, shea and murmur butter is what set them apart in my mind. Curls is a company created by a bi-racial woman searching for the solution for her hair care needs and Curls caters to the unique needs of today's multi-ethnic market. I love people that have a vision and go for it and I figured if it worked for her curls it would probably work for my little boy's curls.

Curls has an page their website that helps you determine your hair type and suggests products just for you! My son's hair type is "full bodied, climate dependent (humidity = frizz), and damage prone. Lack of proper care renders dull curls." This was very true. He has his bath at night to help calm him down and by the morning his curls were tangled in the back and straightened in the front- very dry and breaking. I was using a detangler but the results were just ok.

I received a sample kit from Curls that included a Curly Q's product instruction sheet, 2oz sample sizes of Curlie Cutie Cleansing Cream, Coconut Dream Conditioner, Moist Curls Moisturizer, and Curly B Gel-les-c all in a pretty silk organza bag. All of the Curls hair products we tried smell great- and all naturally from their quality ingredients! The kit looked good so I put it to the test.

First, I cleansed his hair (with their sulfate free cleanser) and conditioned it. I brushed it while the conditioner was in like as suggested by Curls. He came out with his ringlets and then I used the moisturizer spray. I finished up with the Gel-les-c and I have to say I was a little nervous about this last step because I don't like the way gel leaves hair all crunchy. It turns out though that Gel-les-c isn’t a gel. This botanically based, organic curl styler imparts brilliant sheen, banishes frizz, and holds those twirls in place without the crunch!

I absolutely loved these products! They really transformed my son's hair and help it meet it's potential- soft, shiny and silky ringlets! Another fabulous part to these products is that results last. I don't wash Leo's hair every night and I was pleased to see that the use of the 4 products already minimized tangles big time even with skipping the wash for a night or two. Now I can use the Moist Curls Moisturizer in the mornings to restore his curls from frizzy to cute. Formulated with certified organic ingredients, this daily curl moisturizer improves comb-ability and restores his curls. I am very pleased with the results and thankful that his hair is now manageable and I can let it grow a little more if I want! Here are before and after shots.

I am very pleased with the products I tried from Curls and I recommend them to anyone with curls. I will be a repeat customer as long as little Leo has curls! You can check out all the products including their adult, baby, and kids line at CURLS. Special READER DISCOUNT:
Coupon Code: curlycutie (all lowercase)
Good for: 15% off all Curly Q’s products
Expires: Friday, February 5th, 2010

The Curls kit I tried was provided for me by CURLS in exchange for my honest opinions. I did not receive any money compensation for this review.

Oh! Toys- Unique, Creative Toys and Reader Discount

>> Sunday, January 24, 2010

Sometimes, I find that life sweeps you along and that an opportunity or an interest can put you in a place you never knew you were going! That is what happened to the owner of Oh! Toys. About 10 years ago, a Cuboro building block and marble run toy gift for his young daughters, wound up fascinating him as much as it did them! He fell in love with its wonderful design and it's developmental and educational qualities and he wound up starting Oh! Toys. The company mission evolved quickly to his simple purpose: To provide cool toys that are otherwise hard to find. The main criteria in selecting toys for his website are that they be educational, and developmentally and creatively stimulating.

I love the Oh! Toys website because it is visually appealing and well organized. I like the product pictures and headings and I like that shopping is made easy and to your taste as you can pick to shop by most popular toys, brand, price, activity, toy type, child's age, or by what's on sale.

I had never heard of Cuboro before I discovered Oh!Toys but I am naturally curious about this toy that inspired a father to start a business around it. So what is Cuboro? "It is an ingenious wooden building block and marble run toy from Switzerland. Cuboro allows endless combinations and designs... Cuboro is truly a "heritage toy" -- one which not only can be passed from one generation to the next, but which children will come back to time and again as they grow and become more sophisticated about their creations." This is indeed an intriguing toy!

Oh! Toys has looked for the unusual, "out-of-the-mainstream" products that you and your children will play with and remember for a long time. Oh! Toys has agreed to give my readers a special 15% discount off the merchandise total. Just use promo code MWYTOH15! This discount is only good once per customer through February so go have a peek at Oh! Toys now! “No cash or credit value. Cannot be combined with other promotional offers.”

We Love Colors Awesome Tights and Giveaway

>> Tuesday, January 19, 2010

We Love Colors.com is largely known for its fun and expressive opaque tights available in the largest selection of color anywhere and available in children's hosiery to plus sized hosiery. We Love Colors also has a wide assortment of leggings, fishnet pantyhose, fishnet stockings, thigh highs, leotards, unitards, dance gloves, mini dresses, and Caroline Grey Custom Tights.

My daughter tried out a pair of opaque tights in one of their many splash colors. I love these tights because they are nice and thick and will really keep her warm in the winter. I also love that they are nice and durable and can hold to her- no holes or snags. She loves the funky fun colors and enjoyed wearing them to school to show off. We got lots of positive comments on them.

She also tried a pair of matching gloves- so cute. She loved that they matched! They were not very thick but that fabric is pretty good at holding heat in. I would not use them as heavy winter gloves, but they are a perfect accessory for an outfit. I can imagine them in a dance recital with matching leotards! I liked that they were thin so she could still retain her dexterity.

Now, you can win a pair of We Love Color tights of your choice for yourself or your child!

Donate to Haiti through the Red Cross and/or by recycling you old cell phone!

>> Monday, January 18, 2010

On January 12, a series of earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 6.5 to 7.3 devastated Haiti. The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief and recovery efforts to help those people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include deploying personnel, sending relief supplies, and providing financial resources. You can visit the American Red Cross and make a donation right on their site by clicking here.

You can also donate your old cell phone to the cause. There are an estimated 130 million phones retired in the United States every year. If even a small percentage of them are sent to Phones for Haiti, it would contribute millions of dollars towards relief from the devastating earthquake. ReCellular will give 100% of the phone value as a contribution to the American Red Cross; charities have already earned more than $20 million dollars in contributions through their partnerships with ReCellular.

Used cell phones can be sent in by downloading a prepaid mailing label at www.phonesforhaiti.com, with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross’ charitable efforts.

Did you know you can make your own solar panels?

Solar panels make use of renewable energy from the sun, and are a clean and environmentally sound means of collecting solar energy so naturally they are appealing to me. Powering homes with solar power has also been a growing trend the last two decades and their installation can increase your home value. Electricity from sunlight through solar panels produces virtually no pollution.

Solar panels can be costly but you can build your own solar panels! Renewable energy enthusiasts and co-founder of Earth4Energy1, Michael Harvey says, "If you are interested in learning exactly how to generate power and reduce your bill then this is the perfect resource for you! With the ever increasing costs of living, there is no better time than right now to stop throwing money out the window and start generating our own electricity. Over the last few years I have figured out how to significantly reduce the cost of solar panels making it more affordable for the average home owner just like you. Now you can build a single panel or a complete array of panels to power your home for a fraction of retail cost...I'm going to be your "solar mentor" and show you step-by-step how to make a solar panel."

That step-by-step part sounds pretty good to me because I was wondering if an average person could do this. Micheal says, "We will provide you with plenty of pictures and diagrams for you to look at but if you still need help, just email us! We are more than happy to answer any questions you have...Anybody can do this. Male, female and from any age group. This is a great opportunity to save money and go green at the same time."

If you are curious what it takes to build the panels, head over to Earth4Energy1 to learn more. Interested in buying but you are not sure? Don't worry- they have a "100% money back, love it or it's free guarantee"!

ReBinder Green School Supplies Review

>> Sunday, January 17, 2010

ReBinder was started in 2003 with a triumphant goal of creating an alternative to vinyl binders and CD jewel cases that cannot be recycled. Today, Rebinder makes the world’s only Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified line of binders (the ReBinder). Their binders, CD sleeves, journals and presentation/event materials are all made from post-consumer recycled materials!

ReBinder products deliver on their sustainability promise.
Together, with their customers, ReBinder has saved:
* Millions of pounds of greenhouse gases
* Millions of gallons of water
* Tens of Thousands of trees
* Tens of billions of BTUs of energy
* Hundreds of tons of solid waste
In fact, they have a counter on their site that estimates the pounds of green house gas saved from entering our environment by the purchase of their products.

I received a Green School Supply Kit for review from ReBinder. These kits include the following items:
* (1) 1.5” ReBinder recycled 3 ring binder
* (2) ReBinder replacement covers
* (6) RePouch recycled slash pocket dividers
* (6) RePocket eco-friendly pocket folders
* (2) ReWrite 8x10 recycled notebooks with lined paper
* (2) ReWrite 8x10 recycled notebooks with graph paper
* (2) ReWrite 5x8 Recycled notebooks with blank paper
* (3) ReMark eco-pens
* (6) ReSleeve recycled CD sleeves
* (3) RePlay recycled CD cases

My daughter is going to kindergarten next year but I knew that most of these items would be great for my home office. So we checked out the goods together.

I immediately loved the ReMark pens! They say on each one of them, "the pen made from plants- not plastics." I believe it is very important to try to reduce our plastic consumption especially considering the plastic build up in our oceans and that degrading plastics are leaching potentially toxic chemicals such as bisphenol A into the seas, possibly threatening ocean animals, and us. I love that ReMark pens are truly eco-friendly. ReMark pens look and feel like plastic, maybe a bit lighter than most, but they are made from plant resins from sustainably harvested wood and organic cotton! You can even send them back to ReBinder and they'll "upcycle" them and make new pens! Pretty amazing to me!

It was easy to see the value of using the recycled CD sleeves and cases in place of plastic jewel cases. Now, if the music industry will just catch on... Again the recycled folders and dividers are a no brainer- just as good and way better for the environment!

The ReBinder itself, which is the name of the eco-friendly binder is quite clever. It came with two replacement covers! For home office purposes, I don't think that I will be needing the covers any time soon because they are very durable. However for school purposes of toting them around in backpacks with book, I can imagine that the covers will come in handy! I wondered if replacing the covers would be tricky but it is really quite simple.

The ReWrite recycled notebooks came in three varieties- all of which were great. These notebooks all remind me of the black and white composition books I used in lab and english classes in high school because they do not have the metal spiral. They also do not have the 3 hole punch. They would make great journals. The ReWrite 8x10 recycled notebooks with lined paper were college ruled so they are great for me as are the graph ReWrite notebooks and will get alot of use in my home office. They all have recycled paper and ReWrite stamped on them which I think is nice.

The smaller ReWrite 5x8 Recycled notebooks with blank paper are perfect for my kids. The one draw back about these supplies for my daughter was that,"they're all plain brown!" However, this gave me the opportunity to talk to my daughter about recycled goods and to explain that meant she could decorate them any way she wanted. This got her really excited and she chose paint from the crayon, paint, and sticker options that I offered. She and Leo had a great time individualizing their notebooks. They are really nice quality and will make great artwork books. I am thinking of doing number books with them where they write one number on each page and color something and I write a caption. They would also be great for pressing leaves and flowers! My kids loved that they can create their own book!

I loved these ReBinder supplies because they are just as good as other school and office supplies but you feel great knowing that they are eco-friendly and that as you make a difference maybe it will rub off on your children, their friends, and your friends!

You can win your very own ReBinder Green School Supplies Kit! Please enter the giveaway here through noon CST on Janurary 25, 2010.

The opinions I expressed are my own and those of my children. ReBinder did NOT provide me with any monetary compensation for this review. They did provide me with a free school supplies kit in exchange for my honest opinions.

Eat Wild.com: Helps you locate local grass-fed meat, eggs, and dairy

Eatwild.com is your source for safe, healthy, natural and nutritious grass-fed beef, lamb, goats, bison, poultry, pork, dairy and other wild edibles in their state by state directory.

Eat Wild also has comprehensive, accurate information about the benefits of raising
animals on pasture. According to Eat Wild, "A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. For example, compared with feedlot meat, meat from grass-fed beef, bison, lamb and goats has less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and 'conjugated linoleic acid,' or CLA."

Products from grass-fed animals are safer than food from conventionally-raised animals. Eat Wild also says, "When you eat grass-fed meat, you may have a lower risk of becoming infected with dangerous E. coli bacteria" and, "a final note of reassurance is that the producers listed on the eatwild.com website certify that their animal and dairy products are free of feed antibiotics, added hormones, and other growth promoters, making them the "cleanest" animal food you can buy."

Eat Wild has lots of resources such as a list of farmers who will ship their products, the Eat Wild Store for great books and kitchen tools, and list of scientific research relevant to grass-fed foods. So visitEatwild.com today and locate your source for healthier meat, dairy, and eggs!

Zola: Sharing the Art of Living Green

>> Thursday, January 14, 2010

Zola, of Italian origin, means "piece of earth." Beth, the founder of Zola Goods.com, says, "By making small changes, each of us can heal our own piece of earth and together create an abundant future for our planet."

Zola is committed to offering solutions to environmental challenges and empowering those who want to make a difference in their community.

For years, Beth Remmes, a stay at home mother of two young children, has recycled, sent e-mails to her representatives, and strived to be an environmentally-conscious consumer. “Beyond that,” she says, “I thought there wasn’t much more I could do to really make a difference.” Then she heard the statistic, If everyone just changed one light bulb to a CFL, it would be the equivalent of taking a million cars off the road.

“I wondered why everyone did not change their light bulbs, and I came to the conclusion that either they did not hear the message, or they did not have the time or know-how to act on the information.” Inspired, Remmes founded Zola: The Art of Living Green to educate people about small changes they can make to improve their lives and the environment.

Embracing a grassroots approach, Zola uses a single level model of direct sales and recruits “Coordinators” to have Eco Home Parties in their communities. In other words, this is not multi-level marketing. But is selling that operates on word of mouth to offer products that help us live greener. You do not have to sign up to be a coordinator in order to shop and if you do want to be a coordinator, you not be required to recruit other Coordinators nor are you expected to meet sales quotas or keep inventory. Coordinators also get personalized links they can use for people to order directly from them making online sharing easy.

For anyone who ever asked, “What can I do to help the environment?” Zola gives that person the opportunity and support necessary to share an empowering message and initiate change in homes across America, while having the chance to earn a supplemental income. At Zola, they believe that when people know better, they do better.

Spring Recycling.com Gives Helpful Recycling Pointers

>> Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Spring Recycling reminds us that, "As big as the earth is, there is only one" and they ask the question, "Isn't it worth doing just a little bit better job than we have been doing?" Spring Recycling's goal is to make it easier for people to recycle and to inspire you to do so.

Spring Recycling provides information on the benefits of recycling cans, composting, and recycling tires. Did you know that recycling just one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for three hours? Me neither and they have other little tid bits suggesting the grassroots approach to recycling.

Spring Recycling is also on a mission to open a Recycling Center in the Spring, TX area. They provide residents of Spring, TX with information about WHO is recycling, WHERE to take it, and WHAT can you take.

I am all for going green and I commend the folks at Spring Recycling for doing something to not only help the environment but for trying to influence others to do the same!

Great Wooden Toys at Carl & Me and a Special Discount for my Readers!

>> Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Carl and Me is a great online store started by a stay at home dad. I love the story of how it got started. Carl's dad says, "We went to every major retailer and found mainly battery driven, plastic toys that played with Carl instead of letting him play with them. They got boring really quickly and were rarely played with again. He kept playing with his old favourites from relatives in Europe - wooden blocks, cars and trains - and always came up with a bunch of different ideas and stories to play out. The problem then was finding such toys here in the USA and that's when I decided to not only import them but to look for toys of the same high quality right here in the USA."

They carry really unique, amazing toys. I really think "wow", when I see all the great toys, so imaginative, fun and not plastic! You can shop for toys be category or by brand. The Waltertoys are a great line of beginner toys that really caught my eye. Walter toys are made of natural raw materials and are particularly sturdy and child-friendly. Some times these toys look so simple that you don't realize how much your child will love them. I received the Walter Toys - Hammering Bench "Hau-Raus" as a gift for my son Leo when he was about a year and half and I had no idea how much he would love it. He is almost 3 and he still plays with it all the time. It is always a big hit at playgroups. Even my 4 year old daughter likes playing with it! This toy has gotten tons of use.

You will love Carl and Me toys! And here is the best part- the owners have decided to give my readers a special 10% discount, just use code "tees"! They do same day shipping for all toys in stock too so head on over and take a peak at Carl and Me.com
