World Wildlife Fund Lets You Take Action From Your Home for Free

>> Saturday, December 26, 2009

I love nature. I love the green plants and the blue water. That's why going green is important to me and that's why I love websites that help me take action to support what is important to me. I like to be able to make a difference even though I am short on time and often money! The World Wildlife Fund website helps me make a difference.

For more than 45 years, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has been protecting the future of nature. WWF’s way of conserving the planet’s natural resources combines, "unmatched global reach with a foundation in science, it involves action at every level – from local to global – and it ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature."

WWF has a webpage called Act Now. There is a section where they keep you alert on legislation and help you contact senators. You can join the conservation action network where they email you about important issues that need action. You can adopt a species. You can get a credit card that supports WWF. You can even travel with the WWF! So check out their website and see what you can do today!

Why Stonyfield Yogurt is so Healthy for Kids and Where to Get Your Coupons!

>> Tuesday, December 22, 2009

I have always used organic yogurt and for my kids. "Why?" you might ask. I think a lot of people have heard that organics are good for kids but may be fuzzy on the answer to why they are so important. Babies, toddlers, and kids digestive tracts absorb toxins more readily than adult digestive tracts, and young kidneys don’t detoxify as efficiently as adult kidneys which results in toxins circulating longer in babies’ bodies, boosting exposure to four times that of adults! Researchers at the University of Washington found that by putting children on a mostly organic diet for just five days, they could “virtually eliminate exposures to a dangerous class of insecticides known to disrupt neurological development in infants and children.” In addition to this, I have always used organic dairy to avoid my children's exposure to the synthetic version of bovine growth hormone.

I started using Yo'Baby yogurt by Stonyfield because it came so conveniently packaged in just the right size and with a nice thick texture that made it easy to feed to my kids and easy for them to learn to feed themselves. My kids also love their yogurt super smoothie varieties. They now have a great new addition to their dairy line-up called 3-in-1 meals, a baby yogurt with fruit and vegetables! I think is is great for balancing the sweet flavors they get and helping get more balance in their diet. Another newer addition is their probiotic yogurt. This is really a great product because it has more strains of healthy probiotics that help raise the body's immunity and improve digestion. My kids and I haven't tried a single Stonyfield product we don't love!

The Stonyfield website is loaded with information and has a really great page devoted to coupons and offers. This page is packed with coupons, reward programs, contests, sweepstakes, and more. Go see for yourself all the great offers!

The opinions I expressed are my own and those of my children. First Juice did NOT provide me with any monetary compensation for this review. They did provide me with some product coupons.

ChemoAngels: You can make a difference in someone's life without even leaving your home.

>> Monday, December 21, 2009

My friend Mary was telling me that she came across a great website, Chemo Angels, while digging around online and has been really moved by her experience participating in Chemo Angels. "I love to volunteer, but I've found it difficult to devote time right now being home with the kiddies," says Mary. But then she found Chemo Angels and now she can make a difference in someone's life without even leaving her home.

Chemo Angels is a volunteer organization dedicated to adding a ray of sunshine to the lives of those undergoing IV chemo treatment. Chemo Angels matches you up with a patient starting their chemo/radiation treatment and you commit to writing at least 1 letter per week until they have finished treatment. The purpose is to send them a positive, loving card just to let them know you are thinking of them and to brighten the lives of cancer patients while they are going through this challenging time. Visit the Chemo Angels' site to learn more.

First Juice Gets Two Thumbs up from my family!

>> Sunday, December 20, 2009

I had never tried First Juice until recently but it turns out we all love it! First Juice is a company that was started by a dad to create what he wanted to be able to give his own daughter but had difficulty finding- organic juice with less sugar and with the perfect packaging, a BPA-free, reusable sippy bottle. Everything about it sounds good and the colorful labels look good, but I put it to the test.

Let me first introduce my panel of judges. My daughter is not a big juice drinker and prefers mostly water. My son loves juice and could drink it all day long! I brought two bottles of First Juice with us on a road trip because of the great no spill reusable sippy bottle design. I gave them each a bottle and they started sucking it down. I asked Sierra, "Is this the best juice you ever had or just OK?" She said it was the best juice she ever had! She also said, "I definitely want you to order more of this juice!" I wasn't surprised that Leo loved it since he loves all juice but I was surprised when I later gave him the choice between a juice box and a First Juice bottle and he choose the First Juice.

I am so pleased to see that they enjoyed First Juice because after reading the label, I was sold. In fact, I wish we had discovered it when my son was a year old because I do believe that it really would be a great first juice. The flavors First Juice offers are not as sweet as many juices because the fruits are moderated by the addition of a a vegetable providing a little more of a tangy flavor. There are orange or purple carrots (which are really just beautiful) in each bottle! First Juice is also blended with purified water resulting in the lowest per-ounce sugar content on the market. Toddlers have such an impressionable palate and serving less sweet tastes from the start can promote healthier taste preferences. First Juice is also fortified with calcium, and vitamins A,C, and D.

First juice will get less sugar into my kids, more vegetables, and expand their palate all with the bonus reusable sippy bottle that is free of bispenol-a and phthalates and can be recycled! I am honestly surprised how much I love this product! I will be heading to Target to pick up some more! It is also carried by Whole Foods and Toys 'R' Us and can ordered on the First Juice Website. You can even print a coupon from their site!

The opinions I expressed are my own and those of my children. First Juice did NOT provide me with any monetary compensation for this review. They did provide me with a free sample.

Have you discovered Groupon's great deals?

I first saw Groupon on the nightly news. It looked great! They offer great deals, like half off or more, that could only be offered if groups of people purchase in quantities that make it worth it to the offering company. I wished they did it in Nashville and now they do! They started operating a little over a year ago and have spread to 45 cities.

"We started Groupon to make it easier for people to enjoy the great things in their community. We do it by offering daily deals at unbeatable prices through the power of group buying," state the creators of Groupon on the Groupon website. I think it is pretty cool. I get a daily email from them with the deal they are offering that day because each day is new and only good for that one day. Check it out!

Social Media Marketing Done by Moms Wear Your Tees

>> Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Moms Wear Your Tees is a new website that uses social media to help popularize cool websites and products. Social Media Marketing is really exploding right now. It has so much potential because is is basically a "word of mouth" advertising that can spread through networks at a rapid pace. Moms Wear Your Tees Social Media Marketing Services combine networking power with a method of leaving links to the website being promoted on several social media venues such as Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Groups, and Forums. These multiple social media links result in additional traffic flow not only from direct following of the links from the postings but also from a traffic that will continue to build as the search engines index the postings and are found through keyword searches. Additionally, the website may experience a climbing of search engine ranking after their promotion because one of the main factors search engines use to rank is the number of links and key word links a site has.

Moms Wear Your Tees Social Media Marketing focuses on attracting and representing companies that have eco-friendly green products, natural health products, and family oriented products. It is the goal of Moms Wear Your Tees to advertise for cool companies and help popularize them in a niche that will enjoy the products they never knew existed!

Moms Wear Your Tees does more than just website promotion through social media marketing! Services also include product reviews and giveaways. Moms Wear Your Tees Social Media Marketing Company offers a great way for a client to get some product buzz and shine a spot light on their company while leaving them free to do what they do best- serve their customers! Antioxidants for energy, immunity and overall health!

>> Sunday, December 13, 2009

You may have heard that antioxidants are very important to your health. This is very true and the best source is lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. In general, the brighter the color of the fruit or vegetable, the more useful vitamins you will get from eating it. Berries are most naturally high in antioxidants. Blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, blueberry, and wolfberry are the great sources of antioxidants and they are yummy!

Antioxidants have proven an effective weapon in neutralizing the effects of free radicals. Uninterrupted, free radicals can wreak havoc with DNA, enzymes, and cells. High levels of free radicals have been linked to heart disease, cancer, arthritis, asthma and other inflammatory conditions.

I try to eat as much fruit as possible but I also supplement my intake with NingXia Red on occasion. NingXia Red is an the highest antioxidant drink on the market. I take it whenever I feel low on energy, when those around me are sick and I need an immune system boost, and when I know my diet could be better! My daughter loves the single serve packs and she calls them "suckers" because she likes to suck the juice right out of the packet!

Hepatitis C, Cured- More Relavant than you may think!

>> Thursday, December 10, 2009

This topic of Hepatitis C may appear unrelated to most people but, according to the World Hepatitis Alliance, "shockingly one in 12 people worldwide are living with either chronic hepatitis B or hepatitis C. While this is far higher than the prevalence of HIV or any cancer, Hepatitis C awareness is inexplicably low and the majority of those infected are unaware." Hepatitis C is spread through contact with infected blood or products that have touched blood, such as a used razor, improperly sterilized manicure, dental, or medical equipment. This makes hepatitis C far more transmissible than most other blood borne viruses and gives it the nickname "an epidemic for anyone." Hepatitis C, aka HCV, is a contagious viral disease that leads to serious, permanent liver damage, and in some cases even death.

Sorry for the heavy content but awareness is key in preventing the spread of Hepatitis C. I do have some uplifting news for you those that have Hepatitis C or are fighting a chronic disease. Hepatitis C, Cured, is a book that chronicles one man's determined fight against the disease through unconventional methods, and his victory over Hepatitis C. It is inspiring and gives hope. It reminds people to fight for their health and be involved in their own healing. The author, Johnny Delirious,(pen name) also has a free weekly conference call and has a new radio show starting on Jan. 22, 2010 on Voice America's Health & Wellness Channel.

Another great resource for those affected with Hepatitis C is an online support group like Hep C Web Warriors. This Hepatitis C group is open to and discusses BOTH traditional and alternative treatments for Hepatitis C. NO ONE is "judged" for their CHOICE of treatment! is another vast source of information on the latest Hepatitis C treatment research and for objective review of complimentary and alternative medicine for Hepatitis C.
Best wishes to those affected.

November 28: True Source keeps me going!

>> Saturday, November 28, 2009

I think I eat very healthy but I still have concerns about getting the recommended number of fresh fruits and vegetables. After all, who can really fit in all those recommended servings? That is why I love Young Living's True Source. It is nutrient-dense super fruits, vegetables, and other plants that offer a full spectrum of bioactive vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. Unlike most multivitamins, True Source is not synthetic which means my body absorbs it easily and I feel the difference!
