Ames Walker Maternity Compression Support Stockings Review and Giveaway

>> Friday, November 12, 2010

There are many side effects of pregnancy that are not so fun-, feet and ankles may be swollen by the end of the day, leg cramps may wake you up at nights, and varicose veins can develop and worsen with each pregnancy. If you have any of these problems, you can really benefit from maternity compression stockings.

Most leg problems are due to poor circulation and during pregnancy your expanding belly, coupled with the extra pressure your baby puts on your body causes your veins to dilate and work much less efficiently. Graduated Compression Hosiery will help ward off the spread and severity of Varicose Veins and my midwife recommended that I use them since I started to get varicose veins with my last baby. Support stockings work by promoting circulation and the return of blood back up to your heart through the venous system. They apply gradual amounts of pressure to your leg, with the most compression occurring at your ankle and lessening the further up the leg you go. Many insurance companies will actually cover the cost of the stockings as long as you have a doctor’s prescription.

"Ames Walker Maternity Styles provides you with comfortable, medically correct hosiery at the lowest prices on the internet."

Ames Walker was generous enough to let me try a pair of Style 34, AW 20-30 Sheer Maternity Pantyhose. These are Ames Walker's highest compression maternity Sheer pantyhose. According to Ames Walker- this is the sheerest 20-30 maternity pantyhose available in the marketplace today! They feature reinforced heel and toe, cotton Crotch, and an expanding, non-compressive, tummy panel. I ordered according to my pre-pregnacy weight as instructed and I felt that it was a good fit but almost a tad too small height wise, as I had a little trouble pulling the crotch part all the way up. So I would say if you are between sizes, go ahead up a size. These certainly deliver the compression they promise and I can see that my varicose veins are not sticking out at the end of the day as they are when I don't wear them.
