The Clean Bedroom Organic Sheet Set Review and Giveaway

>> Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I recently came across The Clean Bedroom website while searching for organic sheet options. The Clean Bedroom aims to, "make your bedroom as healthy, clean and eco-friendly as it can be." They can help you do so from start to finish! Choose an organic or natural latex mattress made with natural latex, organic cotton, organic wool. Add an organic wool topper for luxurious comfort. Cover it in organic cotton sheets and zap airborne allergens with an HEPA air purifier! I would like to take all these steps sometime but as this time, I was taken with their organic cotton sheet sets.

I spotted their Naturally Organic 340-thread count Organic Sheet Set in sage and I knew it was just what I was looking for to go with my quilt. Each set has a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and (2) pillow cases (one per Twin set).

The Naturally Organic sheet set came with each piece enclosed in cloth bags with buttons. (This was a sweet bonus and I am going to use these cloth pouches for gift wrapping now since I have been trying to find eco-friendly options to replace wrapping paper.) I have a pillow top mattress and I was very pleased to see that the Naturally Organic sheet set is cut generously with plenty of room to fit over my pillowtop. This Naturally Organic sheet set is super soft! It is 340-thread organic count and thread count is a measure of the coarseness or fineness of fabric, this one being superfine. I got the sage green and it is a really lovely shade and it has almost a sheen to it. I love my Naturally Organic sheets because not only do they feel and look great, but also because I know they are good for the earth and me too!

Here is some info I found on treehugger.com about about why organic cotton is so great:
"Organic cotton is the version of its conventional counterpart grown without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers or any other chemicals, and that makes it hugely different, especially considering that cotton (organic or otherwise) provides about half of all the world's fiber needs. Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically-dependent crops, sucking up 10 percent of all agricultural chemicals and 25 percent of insecticides on 3 percent of our arable land; that's more than any other crop per unit. That adds up to 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to produce enough cotton for a t-shirt, and 3/4 of a pound for a pair of jeans. And that's just not bad for the planet; 20,000 deaths occur each year from pesticide poisoning in developing countries, many of these from cotton farming, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)."

I really like my Naturally Organic sheets and I like that The Clean Bedroom focuses on helping "people make informed purchase decisions as they create a sustainable, green bedroom and organic nursery." Would you like to try some of these fantastic organic sheets for yourself? You know you do!

UM OK What's NOT to love here? I need new towels and will be going organic for my next purchase, I love the 'LOOP Organic Cotton Towels' in color 'seaglass' and 'mountain ridge' I'd use the big towel in the darker color and then the smaller towels in the lighter color to accent. Here is the direct link on their site to it: http://www.thecleanbedroom.com/Organic_Bath_and_Spa/Organic_Towels/Loop_Organic_Cotton_Towels.htm

I adore the idea of organic,
I realize the value of our Earth,
Cotton is king for fabrics and cloth,
We need to see the total worth...
It's not too late to try our best,
ORgnic is above the rest.

I would love an Organic Cotton Mattress Pad to go with the sheet set, how wonderful to sleep with comfort and wisdom.
