Golden Moon Tea- Loose Leaf Earl Grey Tea Review and Giveaway

>> Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I have always loved tea. To anyone who does not, I say, you have not tried good tea. There is a huge difference in taste between a poor quality tea and a high quality tea. The quality and taste are determined my the part of the plant they use to make the tea. The grade of the leaves and the number of blossoms and more really can enhance the taste and scent of the tea experience.

I drink a couple of cups of tea a day in the winter to help keep me warm. One day I was preparing my tea and I read on the box, "Because these natural fiber tea bags don't need strings, tags, staples, or individual wrappers, we're able to save more than 3.5 million pounds of wast from entering landfills every year." Wow, I thought, that is great but it would be even better if I used tea without the bag. So I have started purchasing only loose leaf tea.

I was sorely disappointed by the selection of loose leaf tea at my store. Then I discovered Golden Moon Tea online. They have a great selection of loose leaf teas, teaware, and tea gifts. They have a lot of exotic flavors I would like to try next like Golden Pear and Coconut Pouchong. I decided to start with a tea I am familar with for comparison's sake.

I tried the Tippy Earl Grey Tea in a 4 oz. tin. Now don't be intimidated by loose leaf. It is very simple to measure a teaspoon of tea into your or pot or teapot! Upon opening the can I could see that the tea was good quality- nice long leaves and lots of flowers. I compared it some some lesser value Earl Grey I had on hand and the difference visually was evident but the flavor difference was even more contrasting. Golden Moon Earl Grey Tea has the familiar dark, rich flavor you expect from an Earl Grey but it is also smooth and wonderful aromatically. You can really taste and smell the floral lavender and citrusy bergamont and it really balances nicely the little kick that Earl Grey has. I was very pleased with the Tippy Earl Grey and now I want to try their other varieties even more!
